Meet Our Franchisees: Allen Peake and Mike Chumbley of Fazoli’s in Georgia
You know our name and you know where you can find us, but what about the team who makes everything happen behind the scenes? We at Fazoli’s are extremely proud of all of our franchisees and the incredible things they have accomplished over the years, so now we want you to get to know them just as well as we do.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Allen Peake and Mike Chumbley (partners) – check out their interview with us below.

Q: Where is your Fazoli’s Franchise located?
A: We currently own one location in Macon, Georgia and will open one in Warner Robins, Georgia at the end of the month.
Q: When did you become a Fazoli’s franchisee?
A: We first joined Fazoli’s in the mid-to-late 90s and owned various foodservice concepts for a total of up to 14 restaurants – we were also a minority shareholder in the business at the time. The business was sold in 2000 and for about 10 years we watched the Fazoli’s brand hit tough times. However, we always wanted to get back into the Fazoli’s business, so about a year ago we went and met with Carl Howard and the leadership team and took a look at the concept and the new changes to turn the brand around. Fazoli’s is now on an upward path!
Q: How many people do you have on staff?
A: We currently have about 40 employees at the Macon restaurant and will also have approximately 40 employees at the Warner Robins location.
Q: How did you first learn about Fazoli’s?
A: We found out about Fazoli’s through a friend after working with the Shoney’s brand. We also owned Popeyes and Captain D’s at the time.
Q: Is this your first franchise?
Q: What prompted you to choose Fazoli’s over other franchises?
A: As former Fazoli’s franchisees, we were already very familiar with the brand. That said, over the last 2-3 years, we knew that we wanted to rejoin the concept. The quality of the food and uniqueness of quick service pasta is what drew us in. You can pick it up and take it home and the food travels well.
Q: What advice would you give someone looking to buy a Fazoli’s franchise?
A: The key ingredient to franchise success is believing in the franchisor and the concept!
Q: How do you feel about being part of the brand?
A: We truly love the Fazoli’s menu and appreciate the direction that the company is heading in under Carl Howard’s leadership.
Q: What do you think have been some key factors in your success with Fazoli’s?
A: There was a Fazoli’s in Macon many years ago and people loved it. The owners who initially bought the restaurant from us did not run it very well and the location eventually closed down. We attribute our success in Macon to the local residents’ love for the concept – they were anticipating Fazoli’s return to the market! The first week we were open in Macon we set a record – highest volume 7-day week of sales in the Fazoli’s system to date, which gives testament to the fact that people crave Fazoli’s.
Q: Where do you currently live?
A: I [Allen] live in Macon, Georgia. Mike lives in Byron, which is about 20 miles south of Macon.
Q: Are you a veteran?
Q: How did you get your start in the restaurant industry? What did you do prior to franchising with Fazoli’s?
A: Both of us worked for RMS Family Restaurants, which owned several restaurant concepts, including Shoney’s. I [Allen] started out as an accountant and Mike was an area supervisor for the Shoney’s brand. We worked our way up the corporate ladder and eventually I became CEO and Mike was COO. Fazoli’s was added to our portfolio in the early 90s.
Q: Are you involved in any community organizations?
A: Our company’s mission is to be committed to serving customers, employees and the community. We are closely involved with United in Pink, the Alzheimer’s Association and local schools in the community.
And now we’ll leave you with a fun fact – Fazoli’s isn’t all that Allen and Mike are passionate about. They are also both involved in politics (Allen is a Georgia State Representative and Mike is a City Councilman) and Allen is an avid golfer while Mike is interested in vintage automobiles!
