The Fazoli’s Training Process
Part of what makes a company thrive is its employees, and in order for employees to succeed, there must be a proven training program in place that provides them with the tools and resources needed to excel. At Fazoli’s, we’re very proud of the training process we’ve developed, and believe that our franchisees are given one of the best training models to follow.
The Fazoli’s team is comprised of many hard-working and dedicated individuals, and one of those is our director of training, Vanessa Naso. Recently, she opened up about our company’s franchise training program and how it has evolved in just a short amount of time, and today, we’d like to share some of what she had to say with you – keep reading for more.
Our Training Model
According to our training model, the training that our new franchisees receive is the same training that our new in-store managers and employees receive – we believe that everyone should be on the same page, and thus, we believe that the process for training new hires and franchise owners should be identical. In doing so, every member of our team gets the introduction to our company and our core values and messages, which keeps everyone aligned from the very beginning.
When a franchisee purchases one of our locations, they’re buying more than just a restaurant, they’re also buying procedures. As Vanessa explains in a recent article by LatitudeLearning:
“Procedures – that’s part of the package a franchisee is buying when they open a Fazoli’s location. They’re buying our way of doing business and what differentiates us in the marketplace. We really focus our training on our procedures.”
In order to deliver the best possible training to our franchisees and their teams, we offer an online learning management system that outlines and teaches best practices for every role that will be played in the restaurant – for example, how to run a shift, how to make certain products and how to suggest menu items to customers. What we find most valuable about our system is that it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it’s focused on role-based training – there is a dedicated training program and curriculum available for each and every position.
While our franchise team assists new franchisees throughout the training process, something unique about our training model is that each individual franchisee is responsible for getting their new hires trained and up to speed, rather than rely on our corporate team. We have a lot of faith in our restaurant owners, and we’re confident that by providing them with the necessary tools, they will be able to successfully execute their own trainings. As we are always striving to better our business, we continue to offer weekly tips and coaching points to our team even after they’ve been with us. We even offer rewards for employees to encourage their participation in additional trainings!
