Fazoli’s Takes a Seat at The Table Among The Elites
On June 19, Fazoli’s will join ranks with the elites of the fast casual industry by officially rolling out our one-hundred-percent clean food menu.
You may remember when we first made the announcement back in April that we were kicking artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives and colors to the curb. Well, we’re still on track to make it happen and the exciting day is swiftly approaching. On June 19, we will become the first national brand under 1,000 units, and only the third restaurant overall, to accept and conquer the clean food challenge — and we couldn’t be more proud!
After more than a year’s worth of hard work, upwards of $1.5 million, over 1,000 hours of labor, and a whole lot of taste-testing, we’ve finally managed to wipe 81 artificial ingredients from our menu once and for all. To say the very least, we’re thrilled to be joining “an Elite Club in Fast Casual,” as QSR Magazine so eloquently put it in their latest feature. Here’s what our CEO and President Carl Howard had to say:
“The fact that we’re going to be the third group behind Panera and Chipotle I think says a lot. I give a lot of credit to Panera. They probably had the same amount of heavy lifting that we had to do. It takes a lot of hard work. …It’s arduous. I see why brands aren’t doing it.”
In order to make this all possible, we worked tirelessly with about 50 suppliers to ensure that all artificial ingredients were out, and fresh foods were in. While it has certainly been an incredible feat, some might wonder, why? After a record-breaking fiscal year and a total of 16 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth, why take on such a huge project when success is already apparent. We’ll tell you why — because it just wasn’t enough!
