Fazoli’s CEO Carl Howard Speaks with QSR About Creating a “Great Hospitality Program”
What does it take to turn the occasional guest into a loyal Fazoli’s fan? Something as simple as a warm greeting or complimentary dessert can go a long way in gaining a lifelong guest.
Recently, Fazoli’s President and CEO Carl Howard had the opportunity to speak with QSR about how Fazoli’s has cultivated a warm and inviting, “dining room” atmosphere, while still remaining true to its quick-service roots.
How have we done that? Years ago, we traded in our paper plates and disposable utensils for red dishes and silverware. Continuing to enhance our guests’ experience, team members deliver food to the tables and offer guests our signature garlic breadsticks. They also bus dirty dishes for guests. These are just a few of the full-service elements we’ve incorporated into our dining rooms.
“We’re trying to be the brand that provides the most service at our price point,” Howard said. “We always say, no one provides the same service after sale as Fazoli’s at a $7 price point.”
And take it from us, Carl means what he says. After all, where else can you receive tableside, grated parmesan cheese with your meal, for the same price as what you would spend at a typical fast food establishment?
But the joy of a little extra cheese and breadsticks aren’t the only thing guests receive when our team members stop by. This extra touch also gives them the opportunity to spend more time with their guests, take additional orders, or correct any mistakes that may have been made.
“It adds a service component that the guests like. And it kind of keeps our employees engaged at the table for another 30–60 seconds,” Howard says. “We’re not dropping off the food and taking off. There’s more social interaction. It allows us to make sure everybody’s got exactly what they want.”
